Child Find and Early Support Services
At Thalia's Garden Preschool, we want every child to have the best start possible. Some children benefit from extra support in areas like speech and language, motor skills, or social-emotional development. If you have any concerns about your child’s development—or if you just want peace of mind—the Child Find program through your local school district offers free screenings and evaluations for children ages 3–5. These screenings can help determine whether your child would benefit from extra services such as: Speech and language therapy (articulation, expressive/receptive language) Occupational therapy (fine motor skills, sensory support, self-help skills) Physical therapy (gross motor skills, balance, coordination) Behavioral or social-emotional support Getting this information before preschool enrollment can be so helpful. It allows us to: Understand your child’s unique needs and strengths. Coordinate a preschool schedule that accommodates any outside therapies or appointments. Work together to create the most supportive environment for your child’s growth.
Child Find Process
During a Child Find screening, specialists look at a range of developmental areas to make sure your child is on track. Screenings are play-based and designed to be comfortable and fun for young children.
Here’s who you might meet and what they check: Audiologist → Hearing School Nurse → Vision Speech-Language Pathologist → Speech and Language Development School Psychologist → Learning/Thinking Skills Occupational Therapist → Fine Motor Skills (using hands, drawing, grasping) Physical Therapist → Gross Motor Skills (runing, climbing, balance) Self-Help & Social/Behavior Skills → Checklist completed by parent, scored by School Psychologist
